Mirror Design

Between Lines

Two lines define a plane.

Different planes create space.

How can we play with the planes to create space? How can materials have different expressions? In this project, the relation between materials and forms will be explored. Inspired by folding papers, I tried to fold mirror finish stainless steel sheet, which could perfectly reflect its surroundings. With the reflection of the material, stainless steel extends the space.

In order to attend the Stockholm Furniture Fair, part of this project developed into a series of mirrors. In the Between Lines mirror, beholders see themselves in three-dimensional way with the folding structures. The cutting lines make several sharp surfaces, which reflect the beholders from different angles. No longer standing still on the wall or the table, now the mirror has its own expression and therefore reflects a real world with new perspective and depth.
